Mobility in Ponte de Sor, Portugal: On the Wings of Alentejo (October 3rd-10th 2019)

Mobility in Portugal was held in the province of Alentejo, which was very poor in the past, and today it is best known for the production of cork and grain fields. Cante Alentejano as a traditional song by Portuguese farmers has been added to UNESCO?s Register of Intangible Heritage and Whole mobility was based on that. Partner school in Ponte de Sor, together with regions associations that take care of the sustainability of this singing organized several workshops to make a hymn of the project. The hymn was made on national languages of partner countries (Portuguese, Croatian, Spanish, Greek and Finnish) with words prepared before mobility and refrain in English. The hymn was presented on the last day of mobility in the school during Meet and Eat Festival. Local folklore association introduced costumes that was once weared to work in the fields and in everyday life together with several Portuguese traditional dances. All was video-recorded  and put on TwinSpace. In the future, together with Eurodance, hymn will also be presented on the last mobility in Greece. School in Ponte de Sor also organized several Art and cooking workshops. Student learned how to make friendship bracelets and prepare traditional Portuguese dishes based on cod and rice. Using Actionbound application a treasure hunt through the town was played. The game included entering different stores and institutions while answering the questions about intangible cultural heritage of town Ponte de Sor. During the mobility students also visited city fair that has a centuries-old tradition where they got acquainted with old crafts, ways of making tools for work etc.

All mobility participants in Portugal adopted the basics of documenting and assembling video materials, thus they upgraded their ICT competences. Teachers and students adopted new cultural contents and compared them with the cultural heritage of their countries through quizz made by Finnish team. The knowledge gained about the processing of photographs and video materials will be used by participants in their schools and a hand-on training will be used for using digital content processing applications and programs. The new teaching methods will be particularly useful for teachers of social studies, art and foreign languages in the realization of school projects, events and manifestations, exhibitions etc. Mobility had a major impact primarily on learners with special needs who are involved in the project, as integrating peers into strengthening their key competences, but also social inclusion and tolerance. The online cookbook with national recepies will be put on TwinSpace and web page to serve the students who have participated in the project. Cookbook will be introduced on the final mobility in Greece served in a menu in european week.
