The Project

C.H.A.N.G.E (Cultural Heritage Activities and Nutrition in Golobal Environment)

Project C.H.A.N.G.E. is the school partnership of five European schools conceived in 2018 which the European Parliament proclaimed the European Year of Cultural Heritage. The project hangs on the previously completed three year project I.M.A.G.I.N.E. the aim of which was to get familiarized with the material cultural heritage of the partner countries in which four of the five present partners participated. The new approved project C.H.A.N.G.E. aims at paying attention to the importance of changing the point of view in preserving the intangible cultural heritage, motivating students to acquire knowledge of another culture, the formation of identity on their own heritage, and the adoption of new innovative methods of teaching the students about the cultural heritage in a way that students become active participant in the teaching process.

The project involves four countries of the Mediterranean cultural circle (Croatia, Greece, Spain and Portugal) who, together with Finland as the predecessor of northern Europe, aim to introduce the cultural heritage of a country through five transnational meetings. At each mobility level, two teachers and five of the most motivated and active students of each school between the ages of 13-16 will participate when the formation of their own national and personal identity is in full swing. Through a series of activities, all partner school students will spend a week in each of the partner countries in order to learn about cultural similarities and differences of countries involved.

Besides student’s mobility, a staff meeting is planned in Greece where all details will be discussed about dates and activities for project implementation.

All the countries during the mobility will carry out activities on three themes: Treasure Chest, Leisure Time and Meet and Eat festival, but each of them will hold workshops from a specific area depending on their specific item listed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Finland is a nation of readers and the cradle of folk tradition. Students will be taught the storytelling method with the aim of actively transmitting old legends and myths and bringing them closer to the oral tradition. The goal of the activity will be Eurotale – a fairy tale about the story of Europe based on Kalevala story.

Portugal will base its activities on the protected music of Cante Alentejo and singing workshops that will motivate students to design a common song (hymn) in the native language of the partner schools.

Spain will be in charge of the dance and with the dance of Moma and the national festival Fallas students will be able to experience the former lifestyle of Spain. The dance workshops will enable each school to teach other partners to their national dance and create a dance together called the Erasmus dance.

Croatia, along with the Batana Association, which is listed on UNESCO’s list, will organize a festival of traditional games, and students will demonstrate five traditional games. Along with three more games of each country, a brochure for teacher will be made to use in regular curriculum.

Greece will be responsible for the activities of food preparation based on the Mediterranean diet, as a protected UNESCO item. Traditional recipes will be prepared and each country will bring its own recipe to be included in a small cookbook of traditional dishes.
